Duluth City Councilor Joel Sipress, who represents the 2nd District, won’t seek reelection when his term ends in early January, he announced on his Facebook page today.
Sipress wrote: “For the past seven years it has been my privilege to represent the residents of the Second District on the Duluth City Council. We’ve had some important accomplishments – the passage of an Earned Sick and Safe Time ordinance, helping the community navigate the financial and public health impacts of the pandemic (including the unanimous council approval of a local mask ordinance), funding for the Tenant-Landlord Connection (which works to help keep people in their homes), the renaming of Lake Place Park as Gichi-Ode’ Akiing, and many others.
