The Twin Ports has a strong appetite for competitive college basketball, Bulldog men’s basketball coach Justin Wieck said in a phone interview earlier this week.
“We’ve seen that hunger from our fans and alumni base over the last two years, as we’ve battled down the stretch for a conference championship and an NCAA tournament berth,” said Wieck, who has guided the Bulldogs to a 39-19 overall record and consecutive third-place finishes in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference in his first two seasons. “Everyone has been on board since day one from the top down administrative wise — Josh (Berlo, Athletic Director), Karen (Stromme, Senior Associate Athletic Director), Gary (Holquist, Senior Development Officer and former Bulldogs men’s basketball head coach). Really, everybody in our department has a hunger for basketball to be successful.”
